Palestine Flag Political History:

This colorful, eye-catching flag was first adopted on  28th May 1964, by the organization of  Palestinian Liberation. In 1967, Right after the Six-Day War, Israel banned the eye-catching Palestinian flag in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. In 1980, a law was created to ban politically important artworks.

It is especially for those who use the four colors of the flag. The people of Palestine were arrested by the cruel Israeli army when they created art using the colors of the flag. On November 15, 1988, The flag finally became the State of Palestine’s national flag.

The flag of Palestine is made up of three horizontal stripes of color black, white, and green. It is stretched out from a red triangle and it is aligned along the flag’s hoist. The design is very identical to that of several other nations and this similarity shows their shared heritage of flags. The  Palestinian flag is derived from the Pan-Arab flag. So it provided the  flag meaning. 

The red section in the flag represents the Khawarij movement, the black stripe for Muhammad in the Rashidun Caliphate, the white shows the Umayyad Caliphate, and the green stripe shows the Fatimid Caliphate. 

History of the Palestiine Flag

The first Palestinian flag was that of the instructions of Palestine. It was part of the British Empire. In 1920, The flag came into use as a maritime banner. but the flag was often used unofficially to represent the Mandate as a whole.

The flag had a solid red field with the Union Jack shown in the province or city and a white circle with the state’s name in it on the fly. In 1948, when the Arab League identified the original flag of the Arab Revolt as the flag of Palestine, It fell out of use.

In the year 1959, The nation of Palestine came under occupation which saw the adoption of both the flag of the United Arab Republic and  Jordan in parts of modern Palestine. In 1964, The modern flag of Palestine came into use with the Palestine Liberation Organization.  However, it would take more than twenty more years for the flag to be opted as the national flag of Palestine in the year 1988.

The Current Palestiine Flag

In 1948, after the establishment of the Jewish-only State of Israel, The non-Jews of the area came to be identified as Palestinians. Now, Many Palestinians view the 1922 flag as representing their fight for independence and statehood since they have lived either as refugees in nearby nations or the West Bank and Gaza both of which were captured by Israel in 1967. On 1st December 1964, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) officially approved the flag.
